Antique Copper Railroad Locomotive and Tender Weathervane, circa 1900, a hand crafted sheet metal weathervane in form of a 19th Century wood or coal driven steam engine railroad locomotive and accompanying fuel tender. Coincidentally it is the spitting image of the old Nantucket Railroad Locomotive #2.

Antique Copper Railroad Locomotive and Tender Weathervane, circa 1900, a hand crafted sheet metal weathervane in form of a 19th Century wood or coal driven steam engine railroad locomotive and accompanying fuel tender. Coincidentally it is the spitting image of the old Nantucket Railroad Locomotive #2.
The weathervane remains in very good condition with no loss or breaks, only the expected bend or twist here and there. The weathervane is mounted on a contemporary iron stand (which has one bit of inconsequential loss as shown in the photos). The stand can hold a greater diameter rod than the one here, which accounts for the weathervane appearing held at a slant in some photos – this can be corrected by simply tightening the screw or adding a shim inside the pipe.
