This is a very charming and beautiful painting.

The Charlottenburg area was the seat of the Berlin Secessionist school of German progressive artists that espoused modern art, especially impressionism and expressionism. Max Liebermann in particular, a painter and printmaker, was one of the leading proponents of Impressionism in Germany and continental Europe, and a leading light of the Berlin Secessionism. The Charlottenburg art community became a sort of German “Left Bank” and was at the avant garde of of the visual arts and literature, including the likes of Alfred Döblin, Otto Dix, Gottfried Benn, Else Lasker-Schüler, Bertolt Brecht, Stefan Zweig and Friedrich Hollaender.

This painting remains in excellent condition.
