This chest is in a grand large size and remains in very fine condition with none of the usual age cracks or missing brasses. This chest is as good as they come.

Camphor wood chests were used by sailors as sea chest, and for carrying precious cargo like silks and other fabrics. They were also popular in the military for their rugged durability. They were choice chests because the high oil content of the wood made them extremely resistant to insects or damage by water.
