D.A. Fisher lived in Portland Maine and was a prolific painter of primarily marine landscapes, with subjects focused primarily in southern Maine, but also Massachusetts and New Hampshire. While his work is quite similar and sympathetic with “The Brushians,” a group of about 16 artist from Portland that painted on outings around Casco Bay around the turn of the century, he was not a member of that group. I regard Fisher as continuing in the Hudson River School style.

The painting is in fine condition. The frame appears to date from the 1940s or 50s and has clearly held this painting since then.
