18th Century American Pine Decorated Blanket Chest

18th century American pine decorated blanket chest, probably from New England, circa 1770 having a dovetailed case on wide bracket feet, the lid held by long strap hinges; in original red paint with later green painted foliage decorations with yellow birds and highlights on the front and sides, inscribed Aletea 1875. In very good condition, missing it’s breadboard ends (long ago), and bearing the expected scuffs and scrapes. Found on the coast of Maine. Measures: 28.5 H x 46.5 x 25.75 W.
