Antique American 39 Star Flag, circa 1889, a printed cotton flag bearing 39 stars in the wavy star pattern. Never an official American flag, this configuration anticipated the admission of Dakota as a state.
The flag is structurally sound, but does show its age through some bleeding of the red dye. It has been conservation mounted in a bird’s eye maple frame.
