Jean Charles Berruet was the owner-chef of the famed Chanticleer Restaurant in Siasconset on Nantucket Island. A classically-trained French chef from Nantes, France, Jean Charles had been the private chef of Gourmet magazine founder Earle MacAusland, before purchasing the Chanticleer in the 1970s and turning it into world-class establishment with one of the best wine lists on the East Coast, if not the entire United States. He and his wife Anne owned The Chanticleer until 2008.
Jean Charles also became very well known for his superb waterfowl decoys which were privately sold, and now only rarely come onto the market.
