Early Vintage Folk Art Carved and Painted Bust from French Indonesia, early to mid 20th Century, a hand carved and polychromed bust from French Indonesia, depicting a Rani with plaited hair, delicate make-up and a sea-foam green sari, mounted on a pedestal base. In form this is reminiscent of a ship’s figurehead, and could have been a prow decoration, but is much more likely to have been a temple figure.
Figure is old, but not antique. Condition is well weathered but strong and stable.
