Antique German General Store Tole Coffee Storage Canister, second half 19th Century, a tall round tin canister with hand cut, hammered and soldiered seam, flat lid with turned wooden knob pull, bearing stenciled gold inscription “Kaffee” on a black ground.
The canister is in very good condition, other than a separation at the top of the seam (which is still held tight when lid is on, and could be easily restored with quick home soldiering). The stenciling and background paint are in great condition, with only a few expected scratches (predominantly on the back side).
