Antique Tramp Art Chip Carved Mirror, circa 1920s, a folk art frame hand crafted from scrap wood or cigar boxes in the manner called “chip carved”, but in reality comprising stacked layers of sheets hand cut with triangular dentition. This frame is built of five such layers, in a lightly gold painted surface.

This frame is built of five such layers, in a lightly gold painted surface.
The frame is in great condition, with just one triangular tip missing on one of the points (shown in the close-up photograph of on of the crossed corners). The gilt patina is uniform and very light – in some lighting it almost looks like just warm natural wood. The mirrored panel is of course new.
