19th Century Sailor’s Woolie Port-Side View of a Four Masted Ship at Anchor, circa 1880 – one of a matched pair – this one a port-side view of a large four-masted ship-rigged vessel at anchor off a coastline with lighthouse, with a small lugger sailing in the background. The ship is under bare poles with all sails furled, false gun ports along side, copper-clad bottom, Union Jack flying at foremast peak and the Red Ensign flying at the stern. Most interestingly, white glass seed beads have been used as the ship’s blocks throughout the rigging.
