The basket remains in fantastic condition, and has developed a lovely warm honey patina.<\/p>\n
Bill and Judy began weaving Nantucket baskets in 1973 and carving ivory and whalebone in the traditional Nantucket style.\u00a0 All aspects of each of their finished products are their own: from crafting the molds and weaving with the highest quality of materials to scrimshanding their own basket adornments. Bill’s father\u00a0<\/span>Charles Sayle was one of the island’s foremost folk artists, known for his carvings of whales, scrimshaw, ship models, shadowboxes and other folk art.
