Antique Hand Carved and Decorated Wooden Ship Chandler’s Trade Sign, late 19th Century, a wooden plank sign with applied hand carved navigational sextant, advertising the premises of S. Flint & Son Ship Chandlers.<\/p>\n

Chandlers of course were suppliers of hardware, cordage, sailcloth, instruments, galley stores and all other goods necessary for outfitting a ship for its voyage.<\/p>\n

This is a grand old sign with bold and graphic sextant decoration, in good solid condition and working layers of paint, proudly showing its expected weathering and wear. A very rare and desirable marine sign to find.<\/p>\n
