Early 20th Century Pair of Cast Iron Lobster Andirons, circa 1920, very rare fireplace andirons in form of a good old Maine lobster standing upright on tail set on rocky plinth, with claws upraised, in old, possibly original black paint. I have seen only three other pairs of these ever, with one selling for $5000 some years ago.<\/p>\n
The lobsters remain in very good condition, other than one has lost one of it’s walking legs (which is not particularly noticeable – I didn’t spot the loss until studying the photographs).<\/p>\n
Rare and very whimsical piece of very usable New England folk art.<\/p>\n
