Haydn (Austria: 1797 – 1828) was one of the greatest composers of his era. In spite of a tragically short life he left an incredible body of work, including more than 600 secular vocal works, seven complete symphonies, sacred music, operas, incidental music, and a large body of piano and chamber music. His major works include “Erlk\u00f6nig”, the Piano Quintet in A major ( the Trout Quintet), the Symphony No. 8 in B minor (the Unfinished Symphony), the “Great” Symphony No. 9 in C major, the String Quintet, the three last piano sonatas, the opera Fierrabras , the incidental music to the play Rosamunde, and the song cycles Die sch\u00f6ne M\u00fcllerin and Winterreise. <\/p>\n
