Antique Tramp Art Dish Stand, Late 19th Century
Antique Tramp Art Dish Stand, Late 19th Century
$965.00
Antique Tramp Art Dish Stand, Late 19th Century, a hand crafted stand or trivet for a dish or bowl, intricately made of an interwoven network of carved and notched wooden splints, crossing and interlocking much like a “crown of thorns.” Each splint is nicely carved with curvilinear and saw tooth edges, held by forming an interlocking ring as the top rim and the base. The stand is pretty much in the lines of an Irish or English silversmith’s potato ring.

The ring remains in great condition with every splint present and still strongly locked in place. I have found chips and loss to just two of the round lollipop ends.
