Oscar Peterson Minnow Decoy Repainted by Jess Ramey, circa 1930
Oscar Peterson Minnow Decoy repainted by Jess Ramey, Cadillac, Michigan, circa 1930, an early Period II Peterson working ice fishing decoy that received an in-use working repaint by Jess Ramey in a minnow pattern with cream dots on a dark green dorsal and cream ventral body, with red gills and mouth. The decoy exhibits all the key Peterson trademark traits, including curved body, grooved mouth, painted tack eyes, tin fins, and shaped tail lifted free by the anal fin. Ramey is another of the great Cadillac decoy carvers, well sought after in his own right. It is a rare pleasure to find a decoy with both of these artists involved.
