19th Century Valentine
comprising a color printed and embossed "Dresden" paper three dimensional valentine with lace-cut border, depicting a cherub and doves at a fountain, with flowers throughout and a lyre in the background; mounted in a 19th century Black Forest carved and parcel gilt framed shadowbox. The delicate valentine is in excellent condition. This early valentine is in the manner of Esther Howland (1828-1904) of Worcester, Massachusetts, and was either made by her, or by one of her competitors in America or England.
Measures: 13 1/2 in height x 11 5/8 in width x 4 1/2 in deep.
