Jean Charles Berruet Wood Duck Drake Decoy
Jean Charles Berruet Wood Duck Drake Decoy, Nantucket, 1976, a scarce carved and polychromed duck decoy by Jean Charles Berruet, former owner and head chef of the famous Chanticleer Restaurant on Nantucket Island. Jean Charles was a noted, award winning competition decoy carver in the 1970s and 80s, as well as an avid antique decoy collector. This wood duck drake is carved pine with glass eyes and original detailed paint, signed and dated "Jean Charles Berruet, Nantucket, 1976" on the bottom. It is in great original condition, with only the expected scrapes along the edge of tail and tip of bill.
Berruet's decoys are highly sought yet almost never appear on the market - we have not seen one in years.
